A friend at work told me about the dollar limits gas stations impose on purchases. He knows because he often needs to fill his thirsty 9-miles-per-gallon Chevrolet Surbuban. If you need a personal vehicle with a 6-liter engine you don’t have all that many choices, and a Suburban might look pretty good to you. The same is true if you often haul a boat and you take an entire Little League team to the lake to ride in it with you.
Today I read an article in the Washington Post about the growing concern over the cutoff limit and the reasons it exists in the first place. It makes for interesting reading because it provides additional insights into the misery associated with operating a gas station. It’s something we all should know about due to our incredible dependency on gas stations.
Another useful resource is the web site Tucson gas prices. It provides current gas prices around town. You can change the setting to show prices your town if you don’t live in Tucson. I like to track gasoline prices in Southern California, since I used to live there. The lowest price for regular gas in Santa Barbara today is $4.54 per gallon. Call it Schadenfreude, or just staying informed, I’ll leave that to you.
If you have any interesting gasoline stories, please share them.
