The Seattle Times reports today on the latest expression of insanity by United Airlines. “Starting Oct. 6, most United fares will require a one- to three-night or weekend-night minimum stay,” according to spokeswoman Robin Urbanski.
They’re saying, don’t try to leave the town you have travelled to until we give you permission. It brings a whole new meaning to the phrase “flight risk.” It’s a threat from them to the traveler: We’ll have our eye on you, and we make the rules.
Are they complete idiots? This is a return to the worst of the bad old days of airline travel. We’ve seen this kind of travel restriction before from the airlines. It reminds me that I’ve always been less annoyed with Southwest Airlines than with any other airline, and I will continue to give them as much of my business as possible.
